Tips to Grow Bergenia

  1. Arrange good quality Bergenia seed
  2. The soil should be Well-drained, Clay, and loamy with some organic matter added.
  3. Dig a hole for your bergenia, adding in a little grit for added drainage if the soil is heavy. Seeds need light to germinate, so press them lightly into sterile potting soil. Keep the soil moist and warm while waiting for germination, which can take from four to six weeks.
  4. Spread organic mulch lightly around the plants for better growth.
  5. Bergenia are clump-forming perennials that spread by rhizomes. This makes it easy to propagate plants by dividing in spring or autumn.
  6. Remove tatty leaves and faded flower heads to keep plants looking good. Thin out clumps every few years to keep them healthy.
