Tips to Grow Bee Balm

  1. Arrange good quality bee balm cuttings/seeds.
  2. The soil should be evenly moist, but not wet or soggy. It should be rich in organic matter also.
  3. Plant the seed 0.25 to 0.5 inches deep in the soil and about 2 inches of space in consecutive plants.
  4. Add mulch around the plants to preserve the moisture in the soil and control weeds.
  5. Deadhead faded blooms to encourage the plant to re-bloom in late summer. After the first frost in the fall, cut stems back to about 2 inches above the soil.
  6. Divide bee balm every 2 to 3 years to ensure its vigor. In the spring make small divisions of the newer roots of established plants and replant.
