Tips to Grow Nepeta

  1. Arrange good-quality Nepeta seed.
  2. The soil should be evenly moist, but not wet or soggy. Enrich the soil with compost, manure, and peat moss to improve drainage before planting.
  3. Propagation by divisions and nursery plants is more preferable to seeds.
  4. Plant the periwinkle division (5-8 cm long) nursery plant in the soil. Sow one cutting in each container.
  5. Mulch dry soils to conserve moisture.
  6. Harvest leaves as flowers begin to bloom, cutting the top leaves, stems, and flowers if desired. Spread out to dry in a cool, ventilated area and store the dried herb in an airtight container or bag to preserve its potency.
