Tips to Grow Coconut:

  1. Arrange good quality of nut.
  2. The soil should be sandy loam, laterite and well-drained in nature.
  3. Germination of coconut:- Place the coconut in a bucket of lukewarm water. Leave the nut in the bucket for 3-4 days. Fill a zip-lock plastic bag with 250 mL of water and place the nut into the bag, seal it. Store the bag in a warm, dark location for up to 3 months.
  4. Once the nut has sprouted, gently wrap root with towel and place again into the bag. When root reaches to 6 to 8 inches then it is ready to plant.
  5. Place the germinated coconut into the soil pointed end down. Make sure that 1/3 of the coconut sticks out of the soil. If you are planting your tree inside, use a pot that is at least 10 inches deep and has a diameter large enough to accommodate the seed
  6. Water the tree at least 2 times per week so the soil is moist but not too wet. Make sure that the tree gets lots of light, but not constant brightness.
  7.  After first year we can add fertilizers which are rich in boron, manganese and magnesium.
  8. We can take fruits from coconut tree after 5 years. Once the tree starts to flower, it will take 7-12 months for the coconuts to fully mature.
