Tips to Grow Geranium:
- Arrange good quality geranium seeds/cuttings.
- The soil should be evenly moist, but not wet, soggy and compact. You can use a well-draining potting mixture when planting in containers.
- From Seeds: Sow the seeds of geranium directly into the soil. If you are sowing seeds in a pot, start your pot off indoors while the seeds take root. Once the seeds begin to sprout, you can move the pot outside.
- From Root Balls: Dig a hole for each plant. Each hole should be roughly double the diameter of the geranium root ball. Place the plant in the hole so that the plant’s root ball is level with the surface of the soil.
- We can add compost and place 2 inches of mulch on top of this layer of composted soil. The mulch will help to keep the soil moist.
- Harvest Geranium using a sharp, clean knife, make a slanted cut 4 inches below a stem tip, above a node where leaves emerge. Trim cutting to just below a node. Remove any buds, all but two or three leaves, and the leaflike stipules at the base of leaf stalks. Roll the stem cutting in newspaper or put it in the shade for 24 hours, so that the cut end will seal and not rot.
