Tips to Grow Corn:
- Arrange good quality corn seeds.
- The soil should be loamy and well-drained in nature, neither too wet nor too dry. Add aged compost to the planting area the autumn before planting.
- Sow corn seeds 1 to 1½ inches deep. Plant seeds 2 to 4 inches apart.
- Add aged compost or compost tea when stalks are 10 inches tall and again when they are 18 inches tall and a third time when they tassel.
- Corn requires from 60 to 100 days to reach harvest depending on the variety and warm weather. Corn is ready for harvest when ears turn dark green, silks turn brown, and kernels are soft and plump. Harvest corn in the morning and plunge ears immediately into cold water to preserve sweetness.
- We can continuously sow new seeds in every 2 weeks to get continuous supply.
- We can plant different plants like flowers, dill weed, tomato or some climbers like cucumber (as corn plants can provide a support to the for these climbers) with corn.
